The Docs Android app has been designed specifically for the Android platform to save you time and effort. Because your Android device requires your Gmail account to run, you’ll automatically be logged in, and have access to, all of your documents.
The app’s homescreen has the following buttons; All items, Collections, Starred, Documents, Images, and More (which lets you filter your documents by their type, text, spreadsheets, or presentations). To create a new document, click the + icon in the top right corner. Additionally, there is a search button to locate documents, which is especially handy if you’re a frequent user of Google Docs. Once you open a specific document, you’ll have the option to edit it, print it, or share it.
A nice feature of the Docs app is the ability to take a photo of printed text and have it automatically converted to a Google document. This is extremely useful for transferring written notes to a digital form and instantly sharing them with collaborators, coworkers, etc.
Pros:
- View all of your documents, whether they are PDFs, spreadsheets, or slideshows
- Make edits on-the-go and have them sync instantaneously
- Take a photo of text and convert it to an editable Google doc
- Quickly share documents with your phone contacts
Areas for improvement:
- Editing functionality is rather limited and laborious
- Offline support
Conclusion: The official Android app for viewing, sharing, and making basic edits to all of your Google docs.
