TV.com is an Android app that brings personal TV to your Android phone. Now you can access videos from the shows you care about on the go! There are no subscription fees and everything this app offers is free.
The home screen of TV.com offers you currently featured episodes along with a tool bar of all the available networks that offer clips/full episodes. Here is a screenshot list of the available networks.
Since there are many more clips than there are full episodes, a nice feature to search for only full episodes can be found by hitting menu > shows. There is a tab for full episodes only if this is what you’re after. Here is an abbreviated list of popular shows that offer full episodes: As The World Turns, Bold and the Beautiful, CSI, Late Show with David Letterman, NCIS, and more. Additionally, there are full episodes of Classic TV shows like: Beverly Hills 90210, Hawaii Five-O, MacGyver, Melrose Place, Star Trek, and more which is very cool. With all of these full episode options, you can’t go wrong!
When I streamed CSI over 3G I had no problem with buffering/skipping in the video. I didn’t try using WiFi but I’m sure it would be even more steady and reliable. The quick loading times and the reliable video are a big upside to this app.
Lastly, I think the best feature of this app is the My TV option which can be found in the menu. With this feature you select your favorite shows/topics that are offered with TV.com and the app will then create a feed based solely on your choices. Now you can filter through the videos you don’t care to watch and only get those you do. Great idea and implementation.
Overall, this app offers a great ability to access some of your favorite shows/videos on the go. However, you aren’t going to find all the shows you enjoy but hopefully the list of supported shows will continue to grow. Definitely try out this app, at the least it’s a great way to kill some time and stay up to date with your entertainment.

Application: E! Online
Overall Score: 4.5/5
User Interface: 4.5/5
Ease of Use: 4.5/5
E! Online is an Android app perfect for staying up-to-date on the latest entertainment news, photos, and videos. You can watch clips of your favorite E! shows like The Soup, The Girls Next Door, and more. The user interface makes for a nice experience and the app is easily navigated. If you’re a celebrity guru, this app is for you.
The app is separated by 5 basic tabs: E! News, E! Shows, Photos, Celebs, and More. E! News gives you a feed of all the latest E! articles. Conveniently, swiping left or right on your screen will scroll through the articles so you can quickly access what you want. You also have the option of sharing an interesting article through gmail, text, or Twitter.
E! Shows gives you clips for shows like The Soup, Chelsea Lately, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and more. The Photos tab has an extensive collection of recent celebrity pictures. With these tabs, stay up-to-date on the go.
One of the best features of this app is the Celebs tab. With this you can select the celebrities you want to receive news about, ignoring those you don’t. Anding this personalized touch is a great part of this app considering how much celebrity news, gossip, etc. there is each day.
A large complaint I have about this app is that it seems to have some compatibility issues, specifically, troubles with force closing. I feel like this might be fixed in a future update and so the rating stands as is. I’ll keep checking on this to see if it is corrected. Let us know if you’re having the same issues as we were.
Overall, if you’re interested in celebrity news, pictures, and E! shows, this app is for you.

Please welcome Fandango to the Android Market! Fandango offers many of the features that you will find with the currently offered app Movies by Flixster
, however, Fandango offers you the easiest method of purchasing movie tickets from your phone. And for this review, please remember Fandango is only in a beta release.
Overall Score: 4.5/5
User Interface: 4.5/5
Ease of Use: 5/5
Similar to Movies by Flixster, you can view movies that are opening this week, current top box office hits, and movies in theaters near you. Instead of ratings from Rotten Tomatoes and Flixster users, you now have ratings from Fandango users (from Fandango.com). However, you currently can’t leave your own feedback which is a drawback to this app. Similarly, you can’t access trailers like you could with Flixster.
The one real advantage to using Fandango over Flixster is that you can purchase tickets very easily. I know that Flixster also allows you to purchase tickets but the process is more difficult and it seems many theaters don’t support tickets through Flixster’s affiliate but they do for Fandango.
If you want a lot of information about movies, trailers, and the ability to interact more with the app, choose Movies by Flixster. If you already know what movie you want to see and just need easy access to purchasing tickets on the go, choose Fandango. That is the simplest breakdown of these two apps and really what it all comes down to.
Movies by Flixster is the app you need in order to find movie showtimes, watch trailers, and get movie reviews on your Android phone.
Overall Score: 4.8/5
User Interface: 5/5
Ease of Use: 5/5
When you open up your Movies app, you are brought into the Box Office tab which will list movies that are opening this week along with the current top box office movies that are already showing. Conveniently, each listing contains the approval percentage of either other Flixster users or Rotten Tomatoes depending on your preferences. Now you can quickly see what ratings the movie is getting and whether or not it’s worth your hard-earned money to go see it in theatres. Also included in the listing are the lead actors, rating (i.e PG-13, R, etc.), length, and either its opening date or the amount of $ it has grossed thus far.
When you choose a movie, you’ll have the option of playing the trailer, adding your own rating if you’ve seen it, or get showtimes. You can lookup showtimes based on your location. A nice feature of location based searching is that you can also set the showtimes date you are interested in to a later date in case you’re planning a movie night for sometime in the future.
On the same page, showtimes will be listed with the movie theatre’s name and location, along with all the times the movie will be playing. Further selecting on the movie theatre will allow you to contact them through Fandango. You can also map the location in Google Maps. Once you have decided you want to see the movie, you can buy your tickets for a particular showtime through movietickets.com. This is a real nice option if you’re on the go and want to make sure you get a ticket instead of waiting to buy one at the door.
The Theatres tab allows you to find nearby theatres based on your location. If you have a particular theatre you prefer, or only one nearby, selecting on the individual theatre to get all their available movies and showtimes might be your preferred method of using this app.
The Upcoming tab will give you information on all movies that are set to release in the near future. This page will give you all the same information as other movie pages along with the percentage of people who want to see this movie. This might be a good gauge of the popularity and hype about an upcoming movie.
The My Movies tab keeps a record of the movies you want to see, the movies you’ve rated, and recent ratings done by your friends. Also, you have the option of connecting the Movies app to Facebook and also to Flixster.
If you enjoy a night out at the movies, want to watch some trailers, or find out when an upcoming movie is going to be released, Movies by Flixster is the app you’ve been looking for. This is the top app I have come across for endless information on current and future movies. This is a must have on your Android phone.
