Early Bird Android Game, Catch the Worm!

Early Bird Android Game, Catch the Worm!

The Early Bird Android game challenges you to do just as the original idiom states, catch the worm!

  • Version: 1.0.0
  • Size: 8.56MB (apps2SD enabled)
  • Category: Games
  • Price: $0.99

Early Bird features 96 levels, equating to a little over a penny per level, quite the bang for your buck. The objective in each level is to flutter and fly your way to the earthworm’s hole which is marked by a red and white bullseye and wood signage. To fly, swipe your finger across the screen in the direction you want to go. The longer your swipe, the faster and further the bird will fly. Keep your eye on the blue feathers at the top right of the screen which represent the number of swipes you have remaining for that specific level. Runout before you reach the worm and you’ll have to restart.

With OpenFeint integration, this Android game lets you compare your worm catching skills to other Android users and see whether or not you’ve earned a top spot on the score leaderboards.

The overall level navigation and menus are fairly analogous to those found in the Angry Birds Android game, which makes them very familiar but detracts from the overall uniqueness and creative feel of the game as a whole.

Some basic gameplay tips: 1) swipe in mid-air to add power to your flight or change directions. 2) Use walls and floors for re-direction purposes. 3) Minimize swipes to maximize your score.

Pros:

  • 96 levels which become progressively more difficult
  • Vibrant, cartoonish graphics
  • Simple swipe controls
  • OpenFeint integration, achievements, leaderboards

Areas for improvement:

  • Early bird can get trapped by rotating obstacles without being squashed (should end level like thorny vines do)

Conclusion: Direct the early bird to the worm by flying around obstacles in this colorful, swipe-controlled Android game.
