StumbleUpon Discovers Android App
If you haven’t heard of StumbleUpon, it’s a fancy discovery engine that finds recommended material from the web, YouTube, Flickr, etc. Every time you click “Stumble!”, a different site is selected based on your preferences and the recommendations from other users who share your interests.

StumbleUpon is a great app to discover content that you’ll enjoy while avoiding the rest. When you open the app, you’ll notice the large “Start Stumbling” button which will get you going right away. You can even Stumble for photos, Flickr images, news, and YouTube videos. You can also view your preferred topics (search them directly by clicking on them).
The interface of the app is very simplistic but definitely facilitates the StumbleUpon feedback process. You can easily rate the pages you’re presented, share them with others, and stumble on to the next page when you’re ready.
Pros:
- Quickly find webpages and multimedia that are based on your preferences
- Integrated with your existing StumbleUpon account
Areas for improvement:
- Encountering intermittent network connection and force close issues
- Adding and navigating preferred topics needs better implementation
Conclusion: This app is obviously an initial release, but StumbleUpon is a great tool and resource to help you find the best, personalized content on the web.

The one thing that this app is missing, or I can’t find, is the “search” function. On the PC version I often pull-down search and enter the keyword for some category of information that is not available in StumbleUpon’s normal list of categorizes. For example, on the PC I enter “Android Apps” because on the PC version there is no such category.
