Miso let’s you see what your friends and others are watching and then comment, like, and chat about your favorite shows. This app is to TV like Foursquare/Gowalla is to business locations. You can check-in to shows that your are currently watching and earn badges as you go. You can see what others are saying about the hottest shows, and might even get hooked on a new series in the process.
When you first startup, you’ll want to go into the friends page and try to find or invite friends to get on Miso. Conveniently, you can use your Facebook, Twitter, or contact lists to get this done. The app has an extremely attractive UI that is very easy to navigate. There is your stream which contains all of your friends check-ins, comments, badges, etc. in real-time. You can view the trending TV shows & movies that are most popular across all Miso users.
- A new take on the social check-in type apps
- Discover the most watched TV shows and what’s being said about them
- Slick, fast UI
Areas for improvement:
- Ability to add unlisted shows
- Breaking up a show into specific episodes would make commentary/check-ins more specific
Conclusion: Overall, Miso is an interesting take on the social check-in type apps, although it does feel like it needs something a little more (maybe because there is no validation type process like GPS for location-based check-ins). If you’re a TV & movie buff though, definitely give it a shot!
