Top Android App: TV.com
TV.com is an Android app that brings personal TV to your Android phone. Now you can access videos from the shows you care about on the go! There are no subscription fees and everything this app offers is free.
The home screen of TV.com offers you currently featured episodes along with a tool bar of all the available networks that offer clips/full episodes. Here is a screenshot list of the available networks.
Since there are many more clips than there are full episodes, a nice feature to search for only full episodes can be found by hitting menu > shows. There is a tab for full episodes only if this is what you’re after. Here is an abbreviated list of popular shows that offer full episodes: As The World Turns, Bold and the Beautiful, CSI, Late Show with David Letterman, NCIS, and more. Additionally, there are full episodes of Classic TV shows like: Beverly Hills 90210, Hawaii Five-O, MacGyver, Melrose Place, Star Trek, and more which is very cool. With all of these full episode options, you can’t go wrong!
When I streamed CSI over 3G I had no problem with buffering/skipping in the video. I didn’t try using WiFi but I’m sure it would be even more steady and reliable. The quick loading times and the reliable video are a big upside to this app.
Lastly, I think the best feature of this app is the My TV option which can be found in the menu. With this feature you select your favorite shows/topics that are offered with TV.com and the app will then create a feed based solely on your choices. Now you can filter through the videos you don’t care to watch and only get those you do. Great idea and implementation.
Overall, this app offers a great ability to access some of your favorite shows/videos on the go. However, you aren’t going to find all the shows you enjoy but hopefully the list of supported shows will continue to grow. Definitely try out this app, at the least it’s a great way to kill some time and stay up to date with your entertainment.
